Steve Brown began his career as a high school teacher and coach, spending seventeen years in the classroom before becoming intrigued by the challenge of organizational change—particularly why schools adapted so slowly to change in the world. This curiosity led him to pursue graduate studies in the dynamics of change within organizations and communities. Upon completing his studies in 2013, Steve moved to New Hampshire, where his wife started an oyster farm and he helped establish College for America, Southern New Hampshire University’s (SNHU) innovative competency-based program for working adults. He subsequently joined SNHU’s Strategy and Innovation Center, where he helped the executive leadership team develop and act on strategic foresight; coached leaders, teams, and cross-functional groups; and partnered with the university’s training and development department to deliver programs on leading in complexity. In 2021, Steve founded The Futures Collaborative to help organizations, communities, and individuals understand, embrace, and navigate the uncertainties of our rapidly changing world. The collaborative has worked with diverse organizations including the Successful Practices Network, Keene Public Library, Baldwin Union Free School District, Griswold Public Schools, Stonington Public Schools, Douglas County School District, the Derryfield School, Central Methodist University, Project Kitty Hawk, John Deere, and the Institute for the Future.
